In Indonesian history, Aceh is known as one of the places where the spread of Islam began in Indonesia and in Southeast Asia. Thus, currently the people of Aceh still adhere to Islamic law, this is evidenced by the implementation of a government and social system that is in accordance with Islamic law. Aceh is the westernmost province in Indonesia. Located on the northern tip of the island of Sumatra and the island of Sabang. The provincial capital of Aceh is Banda Aceh City. Aceh was once called Aceh Darussalam in 1511 - 1595, then changed to the Special Region of Aceh in 1959 - 2001, then changed again to Nangreo Aceh Darussalam in 2001 - 2009, and in 2009 until now it is called Aceh.Strategically, Aceh is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the west, the Bay of Bengal to the north, the Malacca Strait to the east,
Aceh is a province in Indonesia which is located at the westernmost tip of Sumatra Island which has an area of 57,956.00 Km2 with a population of 4,948,907 people. This province consists of 23 districts and cities, 13 tribes and 13 regional languages.
Aceh Tribe and Language
Aceh has several tribes that inhabit its territory where all of these tribes also have their own regional customs and languages, including: Aceh, Gayo, Aneuk Jamee, Singkil, Alas, Tamiang, Kluet, Devayan, Sigulai, Pakpak, Haloban, Lekon, and Nias.
Aceh Traditional House
An Acehnese traditional house named Krong Bade, this traditional house has a stilt house structure that is about 2.5 to 3 meters high from the ground. These buildings were made high to avoid attacks by wild beasts as well as natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes. Most of the materials used to make Krong Bade are wood, starting from the roof, floor, and several other ornaments. The roof is made of woven palm leaves. The lower part of the house serves as a place to store food supplies. Meanwhile, the upper part of the house is used for receiving guests, a place for deliberations, and a resting place for homeowners.
Acehnese traditional clothing
Traditional clothes in Aceh are only used for certain occasions, such as traditional ceremonies, weddings, and others. Acehnese men's traditional clothing is called Meukasah for Cekak Musang tops and pants. Meukasah clothes are black clothes equipped with golden yellow ornaments. Meanwhile, the Weasel pants are in a looser style. The Acehnese women's traditional clothing is in the form of a long-sleeved shirt with Cekak Weasel trousers underneath. The baju kuning is a traditional dress which is closely related to Malay culture. The shape is loose so that it is in accordance with the Islamic law adopted by the people of Aceh. Acehnese women usually also wear headscarves to complete their appearance.
Acehnese traditional weapon
The typical weapon of the Acehnese is Rencong. A traditional weapon that looks like a dagger. At that time, rencong was a weapon of the Aceh Sultanate. Rencong has many types, some of which are Rencong Meucugek, Rencong Pudoi, Rencong Meupucok, and Rencong Meukuree. In addition, the people of Aceh also have other traditional weapons. The traditional weapons are called Peudeung and Siwah.
Acehnese food
Acehnese cuisine is famous for its rich spices, as well as Indian and Arabic specialties. Curry and curry spices are usually combined with buffalo meat, beef, mutton, or fish and chicken. Apart from that, there are also traditional fish-based dishes. The name of this dish is Eungkot Paya. Other popular Aceh specialties are Catch Chicken, Guri Rice, Beulanggong Sauce, Kanji Rumbi, Caluk Noodles, Aceh Noodles, Sate Mature, Marrow Soup, and others. As for snacks, Aceh also has special foods such as sanger, banana sale, candied nutmeg, keumamah, panyang flower, Aceh rujak, timphan, keukarah, bhoi, and others.

1. Aceh Tsunami Museum
Location: Jl. Sultan Iskandar Muda, Sukaramai, Kec. Baiturrahman, City of Banda Aceh, Aceh
The Aceh Tsunami Museum was designed by an architect from Bandung and the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, as a symbolic monument to the earthquake and tsunami in 2004. Apart from being a symbolic monument, this museum is also used as a disaster monument. education center and emergency shelter in case of another tsunami. This museum is one of the tourist destinations in Banda Aceh which is equipped with an electronic simulation of the 2004 earthquake and tsunami.
This museum contains photos and stories of residents who survived the tsunami disaster. Apart from that, there is a room called 'The Prayer Well' with the names of the tsunami victims written on the walls of the room. From the side of the museum building, you can see a large rescue ship with a wide deck. However, when viewed from above, this building looks like a tsunami wave. Because of its design and deep meaning, the Aceh Tsunami Museum is one of the favorite tourist destinations in Banda Aceh for tourists.
2. Baiturrahman Mosque
Location: Jl. Moh. Hours No. 1, Kp. Baru, Baiturrahman District, Banda Aceh City, Aceh
The Baiturrahman Aceh Grand Mosque was built during the reign of Sultan Iskandar Muda, with the aim of being a center for teaching religious knowledge. This mosque can accommodate as many as 1900 worshipers, on the outside of the mosque there is a beautiful garden. And during the 2004 Aceh tsunami, the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque was one of the buildings that still stood strong and was used as a place of refuge.
3. Lhoknga Beach
Location: Lhoknga District, Aceh Besar District, Aceh.
Lhoknga Beach has white sand and blue sea, this beach is often used for water surfing.
4. Freshwater Lake
Location: Gayo Highlands, Central Aceh District, Aceh Province.
Another natural beauty that Aceh has is a lake located in the Gayo highlands called Lake Lut Tawar. This lake is very wide, looks like a sea except that the water is fresh. That is the reason behind the naming of Lake Lut Tawar. We can enjoy the beauty of the blue Lut Tawar Lake and see the green hills by renting a motorboat to go around the lake or by renting a bicycle. However, when you are in Lake Lut Tawar, you are not allowed to swim because it has a depth of up to 80 meters..
5. Ketambe Aceh
Location: Ketambe Village, Ketambe District, Southeast Aceh District, Aceh
Ketambe Aceh is a sub-district located not far from Gunung Leuseur National Park. The Ketambe area serves as a research site for Sumatran orangutans and a research center for hornbills. In Ketambe District there is a river called the Alas River and it is often used for rafting activities. There you can also explore the rainforest area, and meet directly with protected animals.
